Gerald Green is the Dunk Champion!!!!!!

February 17, 2007
Gerald nailed every one of his dunks and finished with a perfect score in his last dunk as he sailed over a table and jammed with authority. His best dunk of the night was one where he wore a Dee Brown jersey and jumped over Nate Robinson and hid his eyes a la Dee Brown as he flushed it through. He had originally planned to jump over a cardboard cutout of Nate, but he was a good sport and stood in for the cutout to make the dunk even better. AWESOME Dunk!!!! The other two were an alley oop over the backboard from Pierce for the dunk and a pass off the side of the backboard from Pierce. Gerald wore a #2 on his headband as a tribute to Red. A big congratulations to Gerald Green for the win. Now we have a whole year to wonder what he will come up with next year. Thanks to Gerald for bringing a little Celtic Pride back.

DJ Was Robbed... Again
Friday, February 16, 2007
by FLCeltsFan 3:25 PM
February 16, 2007
I just listened to the Hall of Fame announcement of the finalists for this year's class.
Phil Jackson, Chris Mullin and Dick Vitale led the list of 15 finalists for induction into the Basketball Hall of Fame announced during the NBA's All-Star weekend Friday. They were joined by former players Adrian Dantley and Richie Guerin; coaches Roy Williams, Eddie Sutton and Bob Hurley Sr.; owner Bill Davidson; and the 1966 Texas Western NCAA championship team. Referee Mendy Rudolph, Yugoslavian coach Mirko Novosel, Spanish coach Pedro Ferrandiz and former U.S. women's basketball coaches Van Chancellor and Harley Redin also were selected by the four screening committees that nominate finalists. I have nothing against anyone who has been nominated but I do have a problem with one who wasn't. Dennis Johnson played on a championship team in Seattle and then came over to Boston and played on two more. Larry Bird said that DJ was the best player he ever played with and that is saying a lot. One of the most famous plays in the history of the game is Johnny Most's call of Bird's steal against Detroit in 1987. Bird stole the ball, but without DJ instinctively cutting to the basket for the layup, a different story may have been told.
Joe Dumars who was a contemporay of DJ's and who had a similar game was elected to the Hall of Fame in 2006 and DJ was every bit the player that Dumars was. In fact I would take DJ over Dumars if I was going to start a team. It is a shame that DJ has once again been snubbed for entry into the Hall of Fame and something is wrong if he continues to be overlooked year after year.

What This Team Needs (without giving up too much to get it)
by FLCeltsFan 11:16 AM
February 16, 2007 Once again, Derrenmatts over on Celtics Green has come up with a well thought out post that makes a lot of sense.
After some long drawn out thinking, this is the final piece I feel we need to become future NBA champions; a big bodied 7 footer with a lot of basketball smarts, who can clear space for rebounds and score a lot on putbacks. Notice I didn't say a stud big man, nor did I mention Greg Oden's name. I think we can be champions even without Oden. I also didn't mention Pau Gasol. I think we can win a championship even without a guy of Gasol's caliber. The reason is simple--we have a potential awesome trio of scorers who can carry the scoring load all by themselves. Jefferson, Pierce, and Gerald will be a tough threesome to matchup against. They are turning out to be good team scorers, but can get points individually if they need to; and that's important when the shot clock is winding down. Plus, Rajon is a creative scorer as well, even without attempting a single jumper in a game. Teams cannot forget about him, or leave him to double up on our trio because he will hurt them. And I must remind you all to not forget about Telfair--yep, Bassy's got a bit of Isaiah Thomas in him, but he's just got to figure out how to play well with his teammates. So we have a lot of scoring firepower, and teams will not be able to stop us from exploding. Getting another high scoring big man is not high on our list. It would be if we lose either Pierce or Gerald, but if we have our scoring trio intact, then we don't need to go out and get another scorer. The missing piece is a blue collar, big bodied 7 footer who can secure space in the paint to grab 10 rpg, who excels in grabbing offensive rebounds and converting putback shots, and who can think on his feet and beat his man by outhinking him. A guy who can combine with Jefferson to give us a 20+ rpg frontcourt is golden. A guy who can clean up misses and convert putback shots will keep us from going into scoring droughts, or keep our scoring drives alive. A guy who can think on his feet will be able to bail us out of trouble when teams double and triple team of Big 3. So who fits the bill? Well, there are a few of them around: In the Draft Joakim Noah Spencer Hawes (plus, he's a good scorer) Aaron Gray Around the NBA Brad Miller Big Z Chris Kaman Getting Greg Oden would be a dream come true. Getting Gasol would be terrific as well (but we'll probably lose Gerald). But its not necessary for us to achieve our goal of hanging Banner #17. What Derren says makes sense... We do have several young players who are starting to come into their own and could be important pieces in a championship team. Green and Jefferson have both made strides this season even though they still have a lot of room for growth. But they are still young and it isn't far fetched to believe that both could turn the corner to become All Stars. I believe that Tony Allen could be an important piece in the puzzle as well since he can be the defensive stopper that every team needs along with being an explosive scorer. Rondo has impressed me as a player who can be a top 5 point guard in the future. The kid has instincts you can't teach and has all the tools it takes to reach the top. I wouldn't count Perk out of the equation either because we haven't seen even close to what he can do since he has played injured all season. The bottom line is, I don't think we are as far away from contending as many believe. One player may be enough to put this team over the top and we don't necessarily have to sell the farm or lose the rest of our games to get him.

Fiddlin and Diddlin on Friday
by FLCeltsFan 9:45 AM
February 16, 2007 I don't know about you, but I am excited about the approaching All Star Weekend and especially the Slam Dunk Contest. I feel that Green is the definite favorite to win, but from sounds of it, Dwight Howard is going to put up quite a fight.
Orlando sources report that Howard has been practicing a couple wicked maneuvers that might inject this dying competition with the ingenuity/originality it desperately needs. One is a 360 throwdown with the rim hiked to 12 feet, two feet higher than regulation. The other sets the rim at 11 1/2 feet and has Howard purportedly going between his legs with the ball in mid-air before flushing. But ESPN Insider is telling us that League officials have denied his request to raise the rim for his dunks. The unexpected sidebar here? I'm also told that Robinson, who's still 5-7, made the same request about raising the rim for a dunk or two. Guess we'll find out at Friday's media day what he had planned. Hmmm... It took Nate 13 tries to dunk on a regular 10' rim, we can only wonder how long it will take for him to make a dunk on a 12 foot rim. It has also been reported that Green may jump over Pierce on one dunk. I mean, jumping over 5'5" Spud Webb is one thing, but jumping over a 6'6" Paul Pierce is something else entirely. Dee Brown is offering Gerald some advice and likes Green as a player. I really hope that Green does well as it will give him a huge boost in confidence. On the other hand... No, I don't even want to think about the other hand.
The Celtics will be heading out West with renewed confidence according to the Globe Notebook. It seems that talk of the losing streak has given way to talk of a winning streak. You have to love youthful exuberance.
The Patriot Ledger tells us that Pierce could ask for a trade in the future if things don't improve quickly. Pierce has been pushing for the Celtics to trade the pick for a veteran instead of drafting yet another young player. But if we have any chance at either Durant or Oden, we need to take the chance on them. However, reports are surfacing everywhere that it is possible that one or both of these future franchise players may opt to stay in school. Although the majority still feel that both will declare, there is that possibility that we may have to consider the 3rd or 4th option after them. Will that player help us or will we remain mired in mediocrity. Something to think about.
We are just a week away from the trading deadline and things should heat up after the All Star game with the Celtics being linked to trades all over the league. There has been a report that Chicago is re-thinking a trade for Gasol due to chemistry concerns. If Memphis is still trying to cut costs and trade Gasol, the Celtics could be a possible frontrunner if indeed Chicago is out of the picture. It should be an interesting week either way. Stay tuned for breaking trade news all week long.
In the meantime, if you want to keep up on all the hoopla in Vegas, you can check out Peter Stringer's All Star Blog on Celtics.com. JoJo White was a participant in the Legend's Shootout. Lucky missed the plane and Courtney is blogging also. This blog is updated as the weekend goes on so check it out.

Celtics End Streak, Beat Bucks 117-97
Wednesday, February 14, 2007
by FLCeltsFan 10:05 PM
February 14, 2007 The streak is over... Celtics finally got the gorilla off their backs and ended their 18 game losing streak, beating the Bucks convincingly 117-97. They started off slow, falling behind by as many as 15 points in the first period. Then Gerald Green came in and starting hitting shots and got the Celtics back into it and they never looked back.
Green game in and shot 8-9 from the field and 5-5 from beyond the arc and finished with 21 points and 1 assist. Pierce scored 32 points on 12-19 shooting to go with 4 rebounds and 2 steals. Wally returned to action tonight and scored 14 points on 6-12 shooting to go with 2 rebounds, 1 assist and 1 steal. And best of all, didn't end up on the floor writhing in pain.
West started at the point and seemed a bit sluggish to start the game. But when he came back in the second half, he played with more energy, chasing down loose balls and playing with his usual hustle. He finished with 6 points on 3-8 shooting along with 5 rebounds, 6 assists, 3 steals and 2 blocked shots. Rondo came off the bench and it was when he came in that the pace of the game picked up and the Celtics started playing with energy. He finished with 9 points, 2 rebounds, 11 assists, and 2 steals. I don't remember when our Point guard last led the team in assists, but it is a nice feeling.
Scal started at PF and hustled as usual, but he just isn't a starting quality power forward. You have to get more than 1 rebound from your starting PF. He hit a couple of big 3 pointers but again, that isn't what you need from your power forward. Perk came in and played some very good defense on Bogut, helping to hold him to 9 points. Perk finished with 1 point, 5 rebounds, 3 assists and 1 block in 19 minutes. Al had another double double finishing with 17 points, 10 rebounds, and 1 block.
Gomes had a couple of key rebounds and put backs and finished with 11 points, 4 rebounds and 1 steal. Powe and Telfair came in for the final minute of the game and as usual, Powe made the most of his minute, coming up with a block.
We were out rebounded by the Bucks 43-29 and ordinarily that would have meant a loss, but the difference was that the Celtics took care of the ball and only turned the ball over 9 times to 17 turnovers for the Bucks. It was a solid win and the team played very well after a sluggish first quarter. It feels good to finally get that win and end the streak especially with the West coast trip looming in the future. Green's play has to give him a boost going into the Slam Dunk contest. All is well tonight in Celtics Land.

Fiddlin' and Diddlin' on Wednesday 2/14
by FLCeltsFan 9:23 AM
February 14, 2007 Happy Valentines' Day to everyone. I can't think of Valentines' Day any more without thinking about Delonte's ESPN article last year. It is worth another look. Delonte is definitely one of a kind.
The big news today is that Wally and Pierce both expect to play tonight. This will be the first time since December 16 that both will be on the floor together. Both the Herald and the Globe have stories about the much anticipated reunion. Let's hope it is enough to stop the streak.
Another emerging story is Gerald Green's preparations for the Dunk Contest. The Herald makes a mention of it in their Celtics Notebook. I love this quote from Gerald:
“I’m the GM of my own dunk night,” Green said. “I’m the Danny Ainge of my dunks. Paul will be in it, and I’m going to have a special surprise for y’all. But everyone is going to have to wait until Saturday, man.” I love it... And the Globe has an entire article about his preparation. I really, really hope he comes out and wows the world. Both Gerald and the Celtics could use the boost he would get from an overwhelming victory. On the other hand, as excited as he is about this, a loss would be terrible. Robinson shouldn't have won last year. Igoudala was clearly the best but Nate got the sympathy vote, I think. Some people are picking Robinson to repeat for the same reason. Gerald has to be head and shoulders above the rest of the field and I truly believe he will be.
Scott Souza tells us in his MetroWest Daily article that the losing streak has turned the Celtics into a spectacle, like the bearded lady of the NBA. I have to agree with him because today I found 3 articles on SI.com about the Celtics. I don't even remember that many back when the Celtics were on top of the world in '86. Jack McCallum asks which ex-Celtic player's GM job you would rather have. Kelly Dwyer looks at the best of the worst. Chris Mannix takes a look at the state of the Celtics and gives ways they feel we can restore respectability.
I say we win tonight. We have several things going in our favor. For one, Paul Pierce is very, very angry. Wally will be back tonight, although if his ankle isn't 100% he may be more of a liability than a help as he was the first time he tried to come back too quickly. But hopefully he is in good shape and will be able to hit his shots. The Bucks also have injury problems with Redd, Williams, Gadzurik, and Simmons all out. Also, the Bucks played a tough game last night against Dallas and we were off. With all those things in our favor, this is the best chance we have had of pulling out a win in a long, long time. If you can't watch the game, the next best thing is to join us on Celtics Green for the Play by Play and Q's sage commentary. We're going to win tonight...we just HAVE to!!

Fiddlin' and Diddlin' on Tuesday

February 13, 2007 In looking over the stories and links that are up I was thinking that the Celtics have now become notorious. They are getting headlines all over the world because of how bad they have become. It is said that everyeone loves a winner, but I have to say that they love a loser more. Is it because someone else's misery helps people to feel better about their troubles? The Celtics 18 game losing streak has gotten a lot more press than the Suns 17 game winning streak did. For instance, I live in Florida and usually the morning radio news will touch on local sports stories and maybe a big story like the Super Bowl but this morning they led with the story that the Celtics are still losing. The Palatka Daily News, who ordinarily wouldn't mention the Celtics have a feature story about how sad they are these days.
ESPN, NBA.com, NBA-TV all have the story about the Celtics losing streak on their tickers at the bottom of the screen and just have to mention it every day. Even papers in Europe are discussing the Celtics sad state of affairs these days. But in the midst of the "kick them while they are down" articles, is one from the NY Sun by John Hollinger that gives some hope. I have felt all along that this team is not near as bad as their record indicates. We have had one injury after another that has kept the team from gelling and as one player goes out and another one comes back, it takes a little while for the team to get its chemistry back.
Hollinger points to the fact that the Celtics have very few one sided defeats. They have been in most games right to the end. He sites a statistic that shows that bad luck has figured into much of the Celtics losses rather than bad team.
The Celtics could be quite a bit better a year from now. In addition to three recuperated stars in Pierce, Szczerbiak, and Allen, Boston is going to get a very high draft pick as the result of its misfortune. And this is a great year for such a thing to happen because the draft is projected to be the best since the LeBron-Melo-Wade-Bosh class of 2003 I agree with Hollinger. This team is much better than their record shows and they are going to be a much improved team next year. One thing that he doesn't mention is that bad coaching may figure into the losing streak also. I don't want to give up on this team until I see what they can do under a good coach.
The Herald has an article that tells us something we already know... tomorrow night's game against Milwaukee is a must win for this team. They depart after the All Star game for a west coast trip where it will be very hard to get a win. We need to get this gorilla off our backs before the All Star Game. The Globe describes how angry Pierce was after the loss to the Wolves. They showed a close up of his face after Ricky hit the game winner and he was furious. The intensity on his face was incredible. Let's hope his anger can light a fire under his young teammates and together they can put together a complete game and finally get a win.
Thirty six days have passed since the Celtics last won a game. In that time, The Suns have won fifteen games, the NFL playoffs began and finished, the Pacers had yet another brush with the law, Tony Allen had his best game, and then had surgery and was lost for the season, and the Celtics have been outscored by a total of 142 points. It is time for this streak to end and I say it ends tomorrow night. Pierce is mad, his teammates are more confident with him back in the lineup, and even with Doc as coach, I think they are ready to get back to winnning basketball games.

Carnival of the NBA #41 - All Star Edition
Monday, February 12, 2007
by FLCeltsFan 8:59 AM
February 12, 2007
Welcome to Carnival of the NBA #41 All Star Edition! For those not familiar with the carnival, it is a look around the blogging community that allows you to check out links to the many fine NBA blogs available on a daily basis. This being the All Star edition of the Carnival, we start with a bit of history of the All Star event itself.
The NBA All-Star Game has morphed into an entire weekend of events that every NBA fan looks forward to. The all star game gives NBA players a chance to throw away the team concept and go ahead and show off with no remorse. Of course, some stars are more used to already doing that than others. The NBA All-Star Game is a great show, and with little defense and plenty of fast breaks, there's plenty of scoring and fun.
Boston Celtics owner Walter Brown offered the use of Boston Garden at no charge for the first All star game which was played in Boston on March 2, 1951. It drew 10,094 fans. In 1984, a slam-dunk competition was added the day before the game and a three-point shooting competition was added in 1986.
From 1984 to 1993, the All-Star Weekend also held an NBA Legends game for retired players. Like in the All-Star Game there were two teams, East and West. These legends opened the Saturday program before the dunk and 3 point shooting contests. This game combined the excellent physique of some players (the youngest retired) with other legends that could barely run. The NBA cancelled the NBA Legends Game after 1994 due to the players' frequent injuries from the game.
In 1994, the Rookies Challenge game was instituted to replace the legend's game. The game is now a face-off between first and second year players, but started as an East vs. West showcase for rookies only. The first season it was the Phenoms versus the Sensations. In its second year it was billed as White versus Green. Then from 1996 to 1998 it became East versus West. There was no game in 1999 due to the lock out. Then from 2000 until present, it has been the Rookies vs Sophomores.
In 2003 yet another event was added - the Skills Challenge where the contestants have to complete a circuit of dribbling, shooting and passing. Jason Kidd won the inaugural event.
Las Vegas, Nevada has been selected to host the 2007 All-Star Weekend. This is historic in that it is the first time the event will be held in a city that does not presently host an NBA team. By the mandate of NBA commissioner David Stern, all Las Vegas casinos have agreed to not place any betting on the 2007 NBA All-Star events.
Now that we have covered the history of the All Star Weekend, let the All Star Carnival begin...
It is only right to start this Carnival with the Celtics. Not only because this is a Celtics blog, but because Boston hosted first All Star Game in 1951 that was won 111-94 by the East The Celtics have a lot of Blogs starting with their own All Star, Celtics Blog. Jeff submits 5 reasons that the Celtics should do nothing at the trade deadline. Also reporting on the Celtics is Red's Army who sent Matty G to the game against the Heat and shares his impressions of the game with us. You have to check out Red's for his photoshopped pictures. They make my day! Suldog-O-Rama sends an open letter to the Celtics and reminds them that they still have Celtics Pride. Great piece that everyone involved with the Celtics should read. Alex over on Celtics 24/7 attempts to answer 5 most asked questions about the Celtics. Alex and TJ have built a nice site so check it out. And finally, if you haven't checked out CelticsStuff Live, you need to. They have a weekly live call in show with such esteemed guests as Mike Gorman, Eric Weiss, Mike Fine, Scott Souza and more. Last night's show was with Eric Weiss from Draft Express and you can listen to it here. You can also listen to past shows on their website and you will agree that these guys are great!!
The Raptors have never hosted the All Star Game but Vince Carter won the Dunk contest in 2000 when he was a Raptor. They had no 3 point contest winners but Chris Bosh is an All Star this season and they are headed for great things in the future, building with many talented international players. The NBA has been moving more and more toward becoming an international league and in that spirit the Carnival is going with an international flavor with, Raptors HQ's Spanish translation of the midseason grades.
Charlotte hosted the All Star Game in 1991 but have never had a 3 point or dunk champion. Bobcats Bonfire has their mid-season review out. Stop by and have a look.
The Washington Wizards/Bullets hosted the All Star game in 1969, 1980, and 2001. Tim Legler won the 3 point contest in 1996 when he was with the Bullets. Bullets Forever presents us with an essay on the Wizards offensive genius. They also present a piece discussing Ernie Grunfeld's next move that is a good read. The Suns have a lot of All Star history. The Suns hosted the All Star Weekend in 1975 and 1995. Larry Nance won the very first Dunk Contest in 1984 and Cedric Ceballos won it in 1992. Quentin Richardson won the 3 point Contest in 2005. Steve Nash won the Skills Challenge in 2005. The Rising Suns are now basking in the glow of a Suns victory over the Spurs. The Bright Side of the Sun discuss how the Colts winning the Super Bowl should give Suns fans hope for a championship as well.
New York Hosted the All Star Game in 1954, 1955, 1968, and 1998. Kenny Walker (1989) and Nate Robinson (2006)won Dunk contests. Your New York Knicks discuss the Jerome James Quandary about James' spot in the starting lineup. Bench Renaldo has a fun read about a close encounter with Toronto Raptor's All Star Chris Bosh. That is, it was fun until I got to the woeful Celtics line.
Philadelphia 76ers hosted the All Star Game in 1960, 1970, 1976 and 2002 but have never boasted any Dunk or 3 Point contest winners. Jon Burkett over on Passion and Pride MVN explains Philly's competitive balance problem and explains why he feels that "the answer" lies in Iguodala. He also explains tackles the question of who is the league's ugliest player.
The Nuggets hosted the All Star Game in 1984 and 2005. They have had no slam dunk or 3 point contest winners. The Nugg Doctor has a historical glimpse of Nuggets' assistant coach Adrian Dantley. Dantley's jersey number will be retired on April 11th, 2007.
Minnesota hosted the All Star game in 1994. They have never had a 3 point contest winner but Isaiah Rider won the Dunk contest in 1994. I Heart KG tells us why their win over the Suns that broke the Suns 17 game win streak was much needed by the Wolves. TWolvesBlog has an interesting article that discusses who is to blame for the Wolves current circumstances, McHale or Casey.
The Warriors hosted the game first as the San Francisco Warriors in 1967 before they became the Golden State Warriors in 1972. Jason Richardson won the Dunk Contest in 2002 and 2003. The Golden State of Mind gives us 10 Reasons why Baron Davis should be an All Star this year. They also have the perfect Valentine's gifts for any Warriors' fan. You can also check out the Nike Second Coming commercial there and vote hot or not. Lots more good stuff there so go check it out.
Portland has never hosted the All Star Game and have never had a 3 point or Dunk contest winner come from the Blazers. BlazersBlog digs into their lineup statistics and sheds some light on Portland’s most effective 5-man lineups, who’s played the most, who’s been most effective, etc. A fascinating read.
Pacers hosted the All Star game in 1985 but have never boasted a 3 point or Dunk champion on their team. Cornrows discusses Jermaine O'Neal's selection for this year's All Star Team and also comments on the Pacers' latest brush with the law.
The Pistons hosted the game as the Ft Wayne Pistons in 1953 and as the Detroit Pistons 1959 and 1979. No Piston has ever won the Dunk or 3 point contests. Need4Sheed asks "Who wants Flip Saunders' autographed dry erase clipboard?" and share with us Ron Artest's invisible game of catch. Good stuff!
Give Me the Rock has posted their Western Conference Fantasy All-Star Team. They also send word that you can can discuss the All-Star picks and anything else Fantasy-related on their brand new forums.
End of the Bench has a suggestion for the league to award the MVP after the playoffs are over instead of awarding it during the playoffs. Makes sense to me.
Jones on the NBA has a video that brings back very fond memories of the good old days when the NBA was on NBC. The article goes into why the current coverage of the NBA leaves much to be desired. This is worth a look just for the trip down memory lane it gives.
HoopsAddict is a great site that if you haven't checked it out, you are really missing out. Ryan submitted three articles and said we could include any one of them but I couldn't choose so you get a triple treat. The first one is a book review of Brian Grasso's The Art of Coaching. If you plan to do any coaching, or even want to understand your team's coach, this is a good read. The second is a podcast of an interview with Ohio State Assistant Coach Pete Gaudet. And the third is in defense of Toronto Raptor's Coach, Sam Mitchell. All three are worth a look.
The Cavalier invites you to stop by and visit YaySports. His articles are sure to give you a smile as he tells us that Sasha Pavlovic is valuable, Carmelo Anthony is not German, Gilbert Arenas is going for 50 (or not) and much more.
SportsBiz fills us in on the business of E-Ticketing and the fact that the Cavaliers are employing this feature. This is a great site that centers on the business end of sports.
Last but not least, Straight Bangin' conjectures that Book Learning is overrated. They discuss preps to pros and 5 guys who probably should not have gone to college. Included is a nifty video of James White.
If I have missed any links please email me at FLCeltsFan@aol.com and I will add it asap. We at Loy's Place have enjoyed hosting this Carnival and hope you have enjoyed this All Star look around the NBA's blogosphere.

Ricky D's Shot at the Buzzer Lifts Wolves over Celtics
Sunday, February 11, 2007
by FLCeltsFan 8:46 PM
February 11, 2007 Former Celtic Ricky Davis scored 28 points including the game winner to lift the Timberwolves over the Celtics 109-107 for their 18th straight loss. The Celtics played with more intensity and played better with Paul Pierce back in the lineup but came up short in the end once again.
Pierce played 31 minutes in his second game back from injury and scored a game high 29 points on 9-16 shooting along with 2 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 steals and a block. Gomes played 43 minutes and scored 17 points with 5 rebounds, 3 steals, and 2 assists. Green came off the bench for 14 points, 3 rebounds, 1 assist and 1 steal in 17 minutes.
Al was hampered by foul trouble most of the game and played only 23 minutes finishing with 9 points, 7 rebounds, 2 blocks and 1 steal. Perk had a good game scoring 11 points and pulling down 5 rebounds. Scal started and played 37 minutes going scoreless with 5 rebounds and 4 assists but he won the Tommy Award for his hustle on the floor. Powe once again didn't play. He has earned a chance to play and Doc could play Gomes a few less minutes and Scal a few less minutes and give Powe a chance.
Rondo started at the Point again and finished with 8 points, 6 assists, 2 rebounds and 1 steal in 20 minutes. Telfair got in the game early but played only 3 minutes and finished with 3 points and 1 turnover. West was questionable before the game as his back is acting up again but he started at the 2 and played 36 minutes and moved to the point when Rondo was out finishing with 16 points, 7 rebounds, 8 assists, and 2 steals but also had 5 turnovers.
We finally broke out of the shooting slump and shot 53.8% from the floor tonight. We were out rebounded by 1 but turned the ball over 19 times to 15 for the Wolves. The 2 former Celtics buried us tonight as they combined for 48 points and 10 rebounds including the game winner from the corner by Ricky D. Pierce looked like he was almost back to his old self. Al was limited by his foul trouble and didn't play up to his usual level. In spite of the tough loss they played better tonight as a team than they have in a long time. Hopefully they take this and build on it and will pull out a win on Wednesday. At least the Bucks don't have 2 ex-Celtics with a vendetta against us so we may have a chance.
