Lots of links out there today. The Herald has a piece on the workouts as well as a little update on Tony Allen and Wally.
RealGM has a list of the players staying in the draft. Celtics.com reports on the workouts along with Tony and Wally's progress. MetroWest Daily also gives their take on the workouts.
CelticsBlog has a scouting report on Yi Jianlian along with a good analysis of the feasiblilty of trading for Kevin Garnett. CelticsStuff Live takes a look at Marco Belinelli.
Yesterday, Peter Vescey had an article questioning whether Rashard Lewis was actually a free agent or not. Today, Hoopsworld actually contacted the Sonics and got the truth to the rumor. It appears all is in order and Lewis will be a free agent on July 1.
On ESPN, we find 2 articles of note. Marc Stein looks at the Kobe and KG rumors. They also have a great video analysis of the draft prospects. On NBA.com Marty Blake gives his first round thoughts.
The Patriot Ledger reminds us of the loss of Len Bias and that the Celtics have never recovered from it. You can also read my piece on this here on LOY's Place. The FanHouse also remembers Len Bias.
Armchair GM gives offseason and draft analysis. Draft Express gives a good look at this year's Power Forward crop by the numbers. They also have the word on the street on the lottery. Boston: Consistently the toughest spot for anyone to predict, as “Danny Ainge is basically impossible to read” according to one source we asked for their personal mock draft. Many insiders are predicting Jeff Green as the darkhorse choice here. Joakim Noah, Yi Jianlian and Brandan Wright are also receiving consideration. The Celtics are shopping this pick extremely hard, so fans of Conley Jr, Brewer or Yi might want to line up here to ensure that they get their guy. Finally, from Twin Cities.com, we get the newest Garnett rumor. Latest Kevin Garnett trade rumor: The Wolves send the 31-year-old all-star to the Phoenix Suns in a convoluted three-way deal with the Boston Celtics that includes Shawn Marion going to Boston and Minnesota getting the No. 5 pick from the Celtics, plus several young players. The Wolves already have the No. 7 overall pick in the June 28 draft. It's unclear, though, how Garnett's $22 million salary would match up for the deal. I don't put too much into this one. Why would the Suns who are desperately wanting to cut costs trade Marion for Garnett? There may be more to it than meets the eye, but it just doesn't fit with the rest of the rumors floating around.
Only 8 days until the draft and the rumors are coming hot and heavy. Workouts continue for the Celtics as they look at prospects for their 2nd round pick as well as for the 5th pick. I can hardly stand the suspense, wondering what is going to happen between now and the draft and then on draft day. Will Danny trade the pick? Will he get good value for it unlike last year? If he keeps the pick, who will he take? Will we get one of the big players in trade talks? Stay tuned. It promises to be a very busy week.
