Coaching Rumor

An interesting rumor has been going around the boards. According to this Italian website, David Blatt may be leaving Benetton to be an assistant coach for the Celtics. Both Celtics Blog and Real GM have threads on the subject.
His Wikipedia entry is very impressive. According to reports, Blatt is a defensive minded coach and excellent with X's and O's. Sounds just like what we need. He may be coming on board to be groomed to take over the team when Doc fails again. I hope this is true and not just one of those rumors that pop up in the European papers with no substance. This would give us something to be excited about. Doc is not a defensive coach and having someone like Blatt here to install some real defense sets for the team would be huge. We will keep you posted.
Update: Jonathan Givony of Draft Express posted this on RealGM. I made a phone call and there is absolutely no truth to this rumor whatsoever. No one has ever discussed this with anyone involved from what I was told. It is possible that it is still in the works but not to the stage where they want to make it public. I can still hope. We desperately need a defensive minded coach like this.
