March 23, 2007 Unlike the game in Dallas, tonight's game was never in doubt as the Mavericks dominated from start to finish. They led by 17 at the end of 1 but the Celtics fought back and cut the lead to 5 at the half. But they were outscored 34-20 in the third and Dallas never looked back. The Celtics were out rebounded 41-34 and shot only 36% from the floor while allowing Dallas to shoot 56%.
Perk played only 15 minutes and I am not sure why. He wasn't in foul trouble and seemed to do a good job on Dirk defensively when he was in, but Doc kept him on the bench for most of the game. He finished with 2 points and 1 rebound. Al had the worst shooting night that he has had in a long time shooting only 1-11 for 4 points to go with 11 rebounds, 1 assist and 2 steals. Scal was out with a strained ham string and even though before the game, Doc said Powe would get Scal's minutes, he played only 10 minutes finishing with 7 points, 2 rebounds and 1 assist. Gomes played 29 minutes and had 8 points on 4-11 shooting to go with 5 rebounds, 2 assists and 1 block.
Rondo started at the point and finished with 3 points, 3 rebounds, 3 assists, and 3 steals. West started at shooting guard but switched to the point when Rondo went out. He shot 2-7 from the floor and had 9 points, 4 rebounds, 2 assists, and 2 blocks. Allan Ray shot 4-6 from the floor and had 13 points, 2 rebounds and 3 assists.
Pierce shot only 5-18 from the floor but took a beating as he continually took the ball to the hoop and getting to the line 21 times, hitting 19 of them. He finished with 30 points, 2 rebounds and 2 assists. He went to the bench for good with 1:55 left in the 3rd and was holding his knee. In the post game show he said that he took a knee to the back of the knee and it would be fine. He also said that he wants to play the rest of the season but would consult the doctors about his elbow. Green had a very good game and won the Tommy Award. he finished with 19 points on 7-10 shooting along with 4 rebounds, 1 assist and 1 steal and showed a lot of hustle on the floor.
We were never in this game tonight. It seemed as though the players were trying and playing hard, but the Mavs were just too strong on both ends of the court.
