Al Jefferson was named Eastern Conference player of the week. Al had three double-doubles and averaged a league-best 14.5 rebounds along with 23.5 points, 2.5 assists and 1.5 blocks in helping lead Boston to a 4-0 week. He posted 26 points, nine rebounds, five assists and two blocks in a 102-94 win over New York on Feb. 28 and recorded a career-high 32 points to go with 18 rebounds and two blocks in a 96-88 win at New Jersey on March 3.
I am sure that this is the first of many, many more to come. We are seeing him develop into a go to guy and clutch player in front of our eyes. For those wanting to lose, how can we hold this kid back when he is just getting better and better and leading us to wins. And this is just the beginning for him. I was thinking about the posts saying that they would give up Al for KG. Yesterday, watching KG play, it was obvious that he is still a great player, but also obvious that he is starting to slow down somewhat. He isn't as dominant inside as he once was. All his FG's came from jumpers and he was rejected 3 times taking it to the basket. Given a couple of years, Al will be as good as or even better than KG and have a lot more years left to play at that level.
Congratulations to Al on winnning a well deserved honor!! Looking forward to many more to come.
