I just came across this on RealGM and couldn't believe my eyes. Paul Gaston is selling a 1984 Celtics Championship ring that had belonged to his father.
I have had a huge grudge against Paul Gaston for some time now because it was his fault that we had Rick Pitino and Vin Baker and he is a big reason that the Celtics are still struggling today. He drove Larry Bird away from the franchise and was responsible for much of the downfall of this once proud franchise.
Obviously it isn't his ring because the Celtics never won a championship while he was owner and simply went downhill under his management. It was his father's ring and this quote in the Ebay Ad explains a lot about Gaston and what he did to this franchise:
He has documented that his father had owned this ring for more than 10 years prior to his death. The son has also stated that he had legally owned the Ring Free and Clear prior to me obtaining the ring from him. The son had no desire to keep the ring as he is not a sports fan and he wanted some collector to be able to enjoy it.
Gaston is not a sports fan and obviously wasn't a Celtics fan. We can think what we want about Wyc and company, but they ARE fans and love this franchise and for that we should be thankful.
