Leather Ball to Return January 1

According to ESPN, David Stern has reversed his position on the new synthetic ball and as of January 1, the old style leather balls will be back in use.

At first, he had said that he would not go back to the old ball, but several prominent players including Jason Kidd and Steve Nash have displayed cuts on their hands from the new ball's high friction cover and Stern conceded that with the ball inflicting injuries, a change would have to be made mid season. The official announcement will come out on Tuesday.
