It seems that these days the best cure for a struggling team is to play the Celtics. Tonight it was the struggling Clippers who looked like a contender dominating the Celtics throughout the game and winning big 100-77.
The only bright spot was the return of Perk, Kandi and Wally. All three were rusty as could be expected after returning from injury. Perk played limited minutes and provided some defense inside as the Celtics cut a 16 point lead to 3 in the first quarter but he was on the bench most of the second half as the Clippers built the lead back up. Wally played 28 minutes and shot 2-8 from the floor that shows that his legs aren't under him yet for his jumper. He did pull down 6 rebounds and had 2 assists to go with 9 points. Kandi also returned and played just 4 minutes. The Clipper fans loudly booed Kandi everytime he touched the ball. They still hold a grudge over his being picked first in the draft and never living up to expectations.
Al was a bright spot even though he had a hard time scoring with Brand and Kaman having a block party at his expense. He finished with 10 points, 14 rebounds, and 2 blocks. Green had another solid game finishing with 17 points and 7 rebounds. Tony continues to fill up the stat sheet with 13 points, 7 rebounds, 5 assists and 2 steals in 27 minutes of play.
Telfair was the Celtics leading scorer finishing with 18 points on 6 of 17 shooting to go with 3 assists. Rondo played 20 minutes but had only 2 points and 1 assist. Neither of our point guards played particularly well tonight. Allen Ray played 6 minutes and did not score but pulled down 2 rebounds.
Scal played 10 minutes and was pretty much a non factor with only 1 rebound and no points. Gomes had an off night with 8 points and only 1 rebound. Powe only played 2 minutes at the end of the game.
Once again, we had way too many turnovers, giving the ball up 17 times. Our defense was terrible again as we allowed the Clippers to score at will. There wasn't much to cheer about tonight. We can only hope that they will learn from this loss and come out more focused and ready to play on Friday night.
