Kandi Leaves Practice Early

This just in from Steve Bulpett in the Herald:
The Celtic center ranks are thinning by the day. With Theo Ratliff already out (bulging disc) and not expected back any time soon, Michael Olowokandi left practice today for an MRI. He’s so far been diagnosed with a strained abdominal muscle.

Olowokandi will be examined again Friday, but the Celtics aren’t expecting him to be available against Portland that night.

That would leave the foul-prone Kendrick Perkins as the OTCA (only true center available). The fact he’s been able to control his fouls better lately is a ray of comfort for the Celts as they head into a weekend back-to-back (at New York Saturday, as well).

This is a blessing in disguise, actually. This could prompt Rivers to play Powe a lot of minutes (of course Scalabrine will too, but he's been doing a lot of hustling, so its not really a bad thing).
