Al Jefferson is just starting to eat solid foods again and trying to gain back the 10 pounds he lost since his appendectomy. Jefferson is hoping possibly be back playing by next week.
"If everything works the way I plan, I'm looking to get a practice in next week on Monday or Tuesday and hope to be playing by midweek," said Jefferson, who spent his time at home getting some rest and eating chicken noodle soup, jello and pudding until he got clearance to return to eating solid foods on Monday. "I never believed it was going to be six weeks."
This is really good news. Original estimates said 3-6 weeks and if he comes back next week, it will be less than the 3 week minimum originally given. Hopefully this will end his back luck for this season. I would love to see Powe and Al playing together again.
Hopefully there aren't any drop offs to his game. Being out for a week and having surgery may affect his conditioning, but hopefully he gets it back real quickly.
With Theo being out, I hope Doc uses Jefferson at backup Center so that Doc can continue using Powe as a backup PF. We need to get these two out on the court together because they make a good tag team combination.
