Celtics.com reports today that Delonte got his first taste of practice today. He went through 75 minutes of fast break and offensive drills before they shut him down for the day. He is expected to be able to go full out tomorrow.
The article also mentions that Doc is starting to see the separation he has been talking about where players indicate that they deserve playing time.
"Tony Allen is starting to show the separation that he belongs to be in games every day. He's been that good," said Rivers, who also mentioned Pierce, Wally Szczerbiak and Ryan Gomes as players who are standing out in camp. "Not having Tony last year really hurt us, more than I thought it would."
Doc likes the spirit of the players and says that this is the best team he has had since he has been here.
"It's phenomenal to me. They get along with each other, they get along with the staff, they listen."
The site also mentions that the coaches are giving some hands on teaching. During a training camp drill on Saturday, Doc Rivers and four other coaches ran offense while the Celtics guarded the coaching staff. [More] source: Celtics.com Discuss this topic on the Celtics Green Forums!
Definitely good news. They're still taking it easy, but at least he's practicing with the team now.
Tony is showing separation, and that's what I want to hear. He can be a big time player on our team and I want him to show what he can do.
I am fairly confident that Tony will help us a bunch this season (if he's healthy). We have only seen a sample of the impact Tony can give us. Offensively, he's much more than a 5th option (like he used to be). And defensively, he's a sticky defender who can help us ignite our fastbreaks.
I think Allen has a chance to beat out Wally for the starting SG spot.
