Walker Trade Revisited

October 14, 2006 With the trade of Cleveland's pick for Rondo, I believe that ends the loose ends that began with the Antoine Walker trade. When Danny traded Walker, he was having ego problems and was working up to asking for a big contract, and chances are, Danny wouldn't have signed him anyway because of it.
If we look at the trade and follow all the threads out, here is the way it looks. Danny traded Antoine Walker Tony Delk First Round Pick for Raef LaFrentz Jiri Welsch Draft Pick Chris Mills Mills was traded for Detroit's first round pick that was used to draft Tony Allen The Dallas pick was used to draft Delonte West. Jiri Welsch was traded to Cleveland for their 2007 1st round draft pick that was traded to Phoenix for Rajon Rondo. Raef was traded to Portland for Theo Ratliff. (I know that the #7 pick, Dickau and Telfair were also involved, but we basically swapped Raef and Ratliff in this trade) So to summarize the trade, Danny traded Walker, Delk and a pick for Delonte West, Tony Allen, Rajon Rondo, and Theo Ratliff. I would say that is a pretty good return on the trade.
