Of course, this morning the talk all over the news and the internet is of the passing of Celtics' Patriarch, Red Auerbach. He will be missed and we are all saddened by his passing. The Celtics will honor him on opening night and will dedicate this season to him. Here is today's news as well as the tributes to Red from all around the Celtics Nation.
First we will look at the team related articles and then list all the tributes and articles on Red. The Herald reports that Telfair's shot is better than advertised. He has consistently hit the elbow jumper as well as outside shots in the preseason. This is good news for the Celtics and should make guarding us that much more difficult.
In the Celtics Notebook we read that Kandi has a chance now to make good after all the disappointing years he has had. Also Wally's mobility this preseason has been impressive.
Scott Souza in his Courtside View gives us a glimpes into Doc's intention to use a 2 or 3 point guard lineup. This will only work if the other two players on the court are rebounders because the PG's can't run without the ball.
The Eagle Tribune reports that the future is now for the Celtics. We have still have a young team (even younger than last season), but the players have some experience now and many should be expected to break out this season. It they don't, it could be another long season.
The Worcester Telegram has an article along the same lines. Our young players have got to grow up in a hurry if this team is going to win this season.
Maine Today has a look at the Celtics ownership. Change must start at the top and how the owners run the team has a lot to do with how the team progresses. Wyc and Steve are content to be patient with the young Celtics and give them time to develop.
The praise continues to come in for Rondo. The Enterprise reports that Danny has had his eye on Rondo since high school. Drafting this kid may be Danny's best move this off season.
Look at all those tributes paid to Red. What a legacy he leaves behind. We need to bring prominence back to the Celtics organization. We need to bring respect and winning back to the city of Boston.
