October 23, 2006 I am still psyched from Saturday's game. It would seem from watching that game that everything is coming together for this team. One of the most important things is that we are rebounding and Leon Powe is the main reason. There is no drop in rebounding when the second team comes in. The sad thing is that with Doc as head coach, we can't be sure to ever see Leon Powe again. Doc insists he doesn't have a rotation and won't have one. I don't believe it is because of the players. The players will play more consistent if they know they have the playing time. But if they get 2 minutes one night and then a DNP and then 20 minutes the next and back to 2 minutes, no wonder they are inconsistent. Doc is the weak link in this team and if they don't continue to improve, it is time for Doc to go. Rant over... Here is what is going on around the Celtics Nation today:
The Herald reports that Doc loses his cool when asked about rotations. His lack of setting a rotation is part of the problem with this team. He also insists on playing vets like Scal whether they deserve it or not. One of my biggest fears is that once Scal recovers, Powe will go to the end of the bench and Scal will get his playing time. Powe needs to be in there because he has proved to be our best rebounder at this point.
Also in the Herald is a piece about Luke Jackson and his options for the future. While he wants to stay in Boston, being waived wouldn't be the worst thing in the world for him.
Shira also has a report on Doc's rotations or lack thereof. She also reports that Ratliff hopes to be back for the season opener.
The Desert News tells us that the Jazz are denying reports that they are shopping Boozer. The more I think about it, I am glad that no trade worked out. I believe that we will see big steps from our young players this season and they won't come with a huge contract like Boozer does.
