October 27, 2006 Mark Murphy gives us an insight into Tony Allen's background and his family support system as he awaits the trial on his assault charges. Danny picked up his option for next season but the fact remains, no one knows how that trial will turn out.
Jackson and Grant ended up being the final 2 cuts as Steve Bulpett reports. Danny is quoted as saying that Powe, Ray and Kandi earned their spots. I can't help but feel that Ray is being kept because he can handle the ball and fill in at PG in case Rondo is unable to go and they don't want to switch West back to PG. I hope Powe gets playing time because I do believe he can help the team. Doc says we need toughness, defense and rebounding, and Powe adds all of those things.
The Daily News Tribune has a piece on Hickman and Gilroy and their Celtics Pride radio show. I listened to it last season on 1510 and they have a fun show to listen to after games. This season it will be on ESPN Radio and is worth a listen if you are looking for something to do after a game.
Peter May focuses on the negatives, as usual, in this Globe article. There are a lot of questions, but I feel that there were enough positives in the preseason that we can be excited about what is to come in the season.
As we reported, Paul Pierce had a chat on Celtics.com yesterday. Here is a transcript from the chat where Paul answered several questions that were sent in.
Kentucky.com has a good article that discusses the repercussions for 2 famous Kentucky coaches should Rondo have a very good season this year. I imagine both will be watching him closely, or at least they should be.
NBA.com checks out the Rondo vs Williams matchup in the Nets game and have some very favorable things to say about both rookies.
Last night on FSN New England Sports Tonight, they repeated their report that Rondo is suffering from plantar fasciitis. At this point, it doesn't sound very serious because FSN is the only media outlet that is reporting on it and nothing has been said about Rondo sitting out or missing games. There are several courses of treatment for it and hopefully the Celtics have found one that works well and will allow him to play without endangering his future.
