I just love this picture!!
| Celtics lose a close one to New Jersey tonight 109-107. The game was very close throughout until the 4th quarter when the Nets pulled ahead by 10. They chipped away at the lead and tied it at 107 with 7 seconds left in the game. The Nets got 2 free throws from Moore after a Green foul and Allan Ray was stuffed on the last shot. He was fouled but there was no call on the play.
Doc went with small ball for long stretches in the game. At one point, Green was playing center and another time, Tony Allen was playing center. Telfair went out at one time after turning his ankle, but returned to play very well.
Al played very well tonight and won the Tommy Award with 13 pts, 8 rb, 3 st , and 1 bl. It was probably his best game so far. Rondo and Telfair both played very well on both ends of the court. Rondo is just so impressive all the way around. Gomes had a very good game with 14 pts and 6 rb. West wasn't shooting the ball very well (5-14) but had a solid game with 5 rebounds and 1 assist. Wally looked really good tonight and seemed to be very active on both ends of the floor. He finished with 16 points 4 rebounds and 4 assists. After 2 very solid games, Powe played only 6 minutes but had 2 rebounds and 1 steal in that short time. Perk had an off game with only 1 rebound and 2 points. Tony got to the line a lot but often tried to drive when he should have found the open man. His decision making wasn't always the best. He dribbles too much and turned the ball over 5 times. It seems that he is trying too hard.
We played quite well against the Nets who fielded their first string most of the game. I do get a bit frustrated when we play small ball for long periods without a rebounder. Hopefully we won't do that too much during the season. All in all, it was a good showing for the team. I was really hoping to win this one because we had won 2 and we still haven't won 3 in a row dating back to last season. [Recap] [Box Score] Discuss this topic on the Celtics Green Forums!
