September 27, 2006 6 days until training camp and still nothing in the Boston papers. Even the Bruins are getting more press now than the Celtics. Here are today's bits from around the Web
The Cheap Seats has a piece about how much our young players could learn from Dave Cowens. I did an article some time ago that compared Perk to Cowens and feel that there are some very real parallels between these two centers. If you didn't read it before, check it out and see if you don't agree.
Celtics Pride has two new pieces today. One piece gives 2nd year stats for point guards around the league compared with Telfair's that should give some hope for this season. Also a good piece from FinDawg that sheds a ray of hope for this year as well.
CBS Sportsline lists Ryan Gomes as one of this year's sleepers for the Fantasy League. They have some good things to say about him. I think there will be a bigger battle for the Power Forward spot than we realize with Jefferson, Gomes and Powe all working hard to earn playing time. With Gomes slimming down and working more on his outside shot, he may also see time at the 3.
The Circus in NY continues. It is a wonder they get any time to play basketball there with all that is going on off the court. They have a former coach suiing them for a lot more than his contract was for along with their current coach being sued for sexual harrassment ... Kind of makes you feel sorry for Knicks fans... Well, then again, maybe not!
Our own Brian Scalabrine has made the All Time Nice Guys list on Fox Sports. We always knew he had to be good for something. Most Celtics fans are hoping that he fills the role of nice guy on the bench this season and not out on the floor tossing up ill advised 3's.
