And the Preseason Rankings Begin...

September 29, 2006ESPN came out with their first Preseason rankings and the Celtics were ranked #22 and they had this to say about the team:
"Can this really be Ainge's fourth season in charge? Perhaps it's not just Ainge's coach and all his kiddies who are due to pick it up a notch."
I am not sure what they mean by Ainge picking it up a notch. Possibly they would want Ainge to trade away too much young promising talent for a veteran. Ainge has been working on deals all summer but his refusal to give up too much to bring back a veteran has kept him from making any of them.
Judging by the predictions that came into the CSL contest, the majority of Celtics fans are optimistic. I like the team and feel that they will surprise a lot of people as several of the young players take a step forward this season and come into their own.
It could be worse, though. The Blazers are dead last, the Sixers are 29th, Raptors 24th and Knicks 25th with the Timberwolves only slightly better than us at 20. I know that this is just a preseason ranking, but I would rank this team with all of the young talent much higher. I know that I felt this way last year, but that team was much better than its record due to the midseason trade and all of the injuries and I believe they will be much better this season.
