| LAS VEGAS - Danny Ainge’s confidence in working out a new deal for Paul Pierce isn’t a unilateral concept. Pierce’s agent confirmed he and the Celtics are on pace to reach their mutual goal of getting the captain signed to an extension. “We’ve been talking and we’ve been making progress,” Jeff Schwartz said. Pierce has two years remaining on his current contract, but he can opt out of it and become a free agent next summer. Schwartz dismissed talk that Pierce might like to take that route and join a team with a better chance at the title.[More] source: Herald
