July 5, 2006 Big Al is going to have a break out year this year. He is losing weight, getting in shape and best of all, working with Clifford Ray and learning to play better in the post. I agree with Al... Danny is taking a big chance if he trades any of our young guys.

WALTHAM - Big Al isn't quite as big these days.
While peeling off the tape from his ankles after Wednesday's Summer League mini-camp practice, Jefferson reported that he's dropped about 14 pounds since last season.
"I'm on a strict diet, I've changed my eating habits, been working out, court stuff, all of that. I want to lose about 10 more so I can be a little undersized coming into training camp so I can run better," said Jefferson. "I want to come in lighter this year and in better shape. I'm still not in the shape I want to be in because there's a lot of things I can't do with this ankle. But I'm going to step it up a whole 'nother level when I get back from Summer League and by October I'll be ready. But I've got a long way to go."
I'm going through the same thing Jefferson is going through. I've strained my ankle in march, bruising the inner side of my right ankle bone, and the doctor also told me it'll hurt for awhile. Even after the swelling went away, it was still tender, and only 3 months after injuring my foot, was I able to do some running on the court. But I still can't play competitive basketball because I can't make any cuts off the ankle. I'm still running off of just one foot. It still hurts when I wake up.
Thank goodness that Jefferson is working his tail off getting in shape and working on his game. Like what I'm hearing about him improving his foot work and his jumper (thanks to Dave Wohl?). So all together he's going to lose 25 lbs from the end of last year? Gee, I was hoping Jefferson was going to get some muscles on his skinny arms, but looks like they want him to go the opposite way. Ainge is dead serious about getting this team quicker, as he's drafting quick PG's, and getting Jefferson to slim down so that he can become quicker as well.
