There has been much talk of the bad luck that the Celtics have had over the past 20 years, beginning with the death of Len Bias and continuing through the Rick Pitino debacle. But I believe that the luck of the Celtics has changed and there are many things that we, as Celtics fans, should be thankful for.
1. Danny Ainge. I believe that the luck for the Celtics turned around when Danny Ainge came back into the fold. He has taken an over achieving aging team and turned them into the youngest and most talented in the league. He has consistently found gems in the draft while picking outside of the lottery three years in a row. He is patient with our young players and is giving them a chance to develop.
2. Babcock, McHale, King. As much as we can be thankful for a GM like Danny, we can also be thankful that this trio are GM's of other teams. Babcock has been muddling and going in circles in Toronto for years. McHale has made one mistake after another and may have alienated his one big asset in KG by not bringing in enough talent to support him. Now Babcock has joined McHale to continue the downturn in Minny. Likewise, Billy King has made one dumb move after the other bringing in players who just don't seem to fit together.
3. Isaiah Thomas... I have to list him separately, because he is in a league of his own and has given us more comic relief than anyone in the league. I mean first he gives away this year's pick and next year's also. He builds a team full of selfish primadona guards who hate the coach he brought in and so we had the ongoing soap opera of Starbury and Brown going at it all year. Now we have the Isaiah and Brown show where neither one seems to know what is going on and Brown considers himself a "dead man walking." These guys are a laugh a minute. [More...] source:
