Danny Ainge told reporters on Thursday that five veteran Celtics would represent the team in the Toshiba Vegas Summer League this July. Al Jefferson, Ryan Gomes, Gerald Green, Orien Green and Dwayne Jones are all slated to participate in the league, which runs from July 6-14. The Celtics' first round draft pick would also likely join them in Vegas.
That's going to be a pretty fun team to watch. Very athletic team. I can't wait for Gerald Green and Big Al to start jelling as co-stars of the team. If they alternate their hot scoring hand, we should be one of the top teams in the Toshiba league. I feel that DJ can become a pretty solid player, so I'm hoping he's ready to shine on the boards in Vegas. We'll probably put our rookie in the summer league games as well.
Yeah, its very encouraging that Raef and some of the others are working on their games this offseason. I don't recall Raef working out in Boston during the offseason in previous summers. This shows his dedication to being an improved player.
I was pretty excited to see that Raef is there working out also. I imagine that working with Clifford Ray is probably a big draw for him and I am hoping that it will make a big difference in his game next year.
Raef has stated a few times in the past that he is not just a three point shooter. He tried to emphasize that he does have more diversity on offense. I've seen him work a turn around jumper pretty decently, but I haven't seen much else. Maybe Ray can get him to develop an inside game.
Hope Al is gobbling up all the information Ray is laying on him. Al needs to learn how to play "big" and not rely only on finess.
