June 27, 2006 Danny is talking about trying to acquire an All Star caliber player if he trades the 7th pick. What worries me is that he is also talking about including a young player or two. While the Celtics are enamored of many of the players in tomorrow night’s NBA Draft, their first choice would be none of the above or below. League sources confirmed that the Celts are hunting hard for a quality veteran, offering in trade some combination of their No. 7 overall pick and a young player or two. The Celtics placed calls regarding Shawn Marion, Rashard Lewis, Richard Jefferson, Allen Iverson and Kevin Garnett, and while it’s entirely possible none of the discussions will bear fruit (the Iverson talk weeks ago was brief and appears ended), it seems clear that Danny Ainge is acting on the need for experience.[More] source: Boston Herald
