Cedric Simmons and Torin Francis worked out side-by-side for more than an hour Friday morning at the Sports Authority Training Center in Waltham. Roughly the same height and weight, pursuing the same goal of making a positive impression on an NBA team before the June 28 draft, the pair of power forwards have a lot in common.
In one major way, however, the pair is a study in contrast. Francis, a Boston native who attended Boston Latin and Tabor Academy, played three years at Notre Dame before declaring for the NBA draft last spring. He went through the draft-camp process, but resisted hiring an agent so he could leave open the possibility of returning to school.
