No news was just fine with Celtics director of basketball operations Danny Ainge last night as his team maintained the No. 7 overall pick in the NBA’s draft lottery. Toronto was the evening’s surprise, moving from fifth to first for the June 28 dispersal, while Portland, which finished with the worst record in the league, was relegated to fourth.

“I’m not really disappointed,” Ainge said. “I guess we were holding out some hope for the possibility of moving up in the draft but have been preparing for this position in the draft since the season ended. [More]

Actually, I'm comfortable where we are at. Sure it would have been nice to be able to add Adam Morrison onto the team, but we could still add a good piece sticking with the 7th pick. Maybe Randy Foye, maybe Tiago Splitter. Heck, maybe a guy like Andrea Bargnani may end up sliding to us.

Tiago Splitter's situation bothers me though. We really need impact now. If he declares and can't play now, why pick him?
