Learn the ropes from Larry Bird and Co. for a year or two and then forge his own path, become a star in his own right. Allow Red Auerbach to smoke a few more cigars, raise a few more banners.
What was it that Celtics scout Ed Badger told The Washington Post on draft night almost 20 years ago, after Boston made the University of Maryland star the second overall pick? Just this: "He's the closest thing to Michael Jordan to come out (of college) in a long time."[More]
