The kid from Roxbury went through his paces for the Celtics yesterday, but there was nothing wide-eyed about Will Blalock as he went about impressing his potential employers. As a point guard at East Boston and Notre Dame Prep - well before he was a three-year starter at Iowa State - he had a feeling this day would come. [More] source: boston herald
It'll be interesting to see what becomes of this kid. For sure Leo Papile is high on the kid (he coached him in AAU as a high schooler and he gave Ainge a scouting video of him when he first came aboard). If Ainge is also sold on his abilities, I'd imagine Ainge would move down in the draft to grab him. The 7th pick is way too high to grab Blalock.
Wonder how Ainge views Blalock compared to say Randy Foye? He could most likely take Foye at 7, but if he moves down to say the late 1st round, he can pick up Blalock there. Lets keep tabs on Blalock's workouts with other teams. If he's calling them off (especially workouts for teams who will be drafting later in the 1st round), there could be a possibility that Ainge has made a promise to take him.
